Caught the kiddies doing a little impromptu dancing on Friday. I might have joined in on the demo presentation, which led to us purchasing the latest version of Just Dance (for the gaming system, albeit not exactly a video"game") and a very intense cardio workout last night.
As you can see, the living room is de-Christmased although not re-arranged nor re-decorated. Perhaps that will get done this week...

Frozen Friday
The current "feels like" temperature is -6 degrees. That's actually not as low as had been predicted, however, so schools are opening on a two-hour delay rather than a straight-up closure due to cold temps, like many schools to the north. So while it's 8:20am right now, we still have two hours before needing to get ready to head to school.
Our surprise closure yesterday was a delight, although the day quickly got sucked into email after email after text after text, plus a bonus phone call, about a PTA-related issue. In case you're wondering, there's no better way to spend a day than facilitating (unpaid) logistical machinations between about 10 people instead of 1) taking down Christmas decorations as planned; 2) hanging out with the fam; 3) napping/binge-watching shows; 4) oh yeah, doing actual paid work projects that have been assigned.
And obviously one also has to build in time to play with filters and try to take a selfie that represents one's feelings at the end of such a day: ;-)
While we got caught up in "Winter Suspense, Part 2" last night/early this morning about whether they might change the delay to a a full closure, it suddenly dawned on me that I didn't want a closure-- I need to get these kids out of the house so I can get back to all my work.
HAPPY FRIDAY! (stay warm!)

Disappointment Followed By Delight!
I was cruising the grocery store aisles yesterday when I came across a display of not one but TWO new Oreo flavors:
But really? Neither of those appeals to this family! I'm the only one okay with "red hots"-- but am not interested in that in Oreo form, and nobody loves hazelnut. The BG said he would indeed try the hazelnut ones--for the good of the mission--but he's not going anywhere near the hot & spicy one.
On the delightful side, we are all home today after receiving the (surprise) news of a snow day closure! Bear in mind that we have just a dusting on the ground--and that's all there will be--but the snow fell exactly at the right time that, when combined with our frigid temps, led all local school systems to cancel in the name of student safety. WE WILL TAKE IT.
What a treat! (in laziness form, if not flavored cookie form!)

Olivia? Is That You?
(Or Reason 187 why I love the BG.)
When working to take the Christmas tree to the curb for recycling pickup, he ran into a little space problem. The next thing we knew, he was holding a small green tree and reciting lines from a classic Olivia book. Let's have Mr. B do a re-enactment...

Ending 2017 With Besties
Anne and her crew drove into town Sunday to hang out for the overnight. We invited Christy & Co. to join us and that equaled a lot of happy little girls playing dress-up:
There were lots of happy adults with all the snacks:
And instant photos galore!
The oldest and youngest were captured above but I tried to get another one in the AM sans sword. Little Abigail just couldn't take her eyes off the B-man:
I just walked the kids out to the bus stop in super frigid weather. The low later this week is 2. TWO. Oh my goodness. We're gonna need an oil tank fill-up super soon with all this work the boiler is having to do to keep us warm! (Truth: I'm still wearing my hat even though I've been inside for 10 minutes!)
Happy 2018 to you all!

Early Morning Hugs
That's what we do around here.
Soon, the living room will be back to normal and we'll be in the swing of 2018 schedules. For now, however, we lounge around and enjoy the downtime.

Cute Kids and Ugly Sweaters
We had some visitors Saturday and these four kids had lots of fun running around playing:
Fake Auntie Chisty brought over the TJ's Ugly Sweater Cookie Decorating Kit and these two went to work decorating while everybody else went to see The Last Jedi Sunday morning:
I forgot to take a pic until more than half of the resulting masterpieces were gone, but they sure are....BUSY!
